Working Together - South Yorkshire (Equivalent to Level 3)

WTG Safeguarding Conference — Niagara — Tuesday 17th November 9.30am–4.00pm

The conference will be a celebration of what we are doing well in relation to Safeguarding Adults in the South Yorkshire region. Attendees will learn from services users and practitioners within each Local Authority and South Yorkshire Police areas of work that have had positive results in adult safeguarding. These shared experiences, initiatives and actives will help us reflect on the work we do and potentially embed the learning in our practices.

Guest Speaker: Tom Somerset How

A lived experience of safeguarding and lessons we can learn. 

Tom, who has cerebral palsy, will share how he survived modern slavery perpetrated by his wife and live-in carer. He will explain how agencies supported him after concerns were raised and throughout the Safeguarding Adult Review process.

Tom is passionate about using his experience to campaign for people affected by abuse and neglect and about ensuring that something positive comes from what happened to him.
